 This picture is by Carrie Mae Weems. One reason why I like this picture, is because of the message. The message of this painting deals with the view of African American women. Their role in society was mainly viewed as the bottom. This mainly, because they were black and female. Many higher class whites viewed black women as so inferior to the point that they were evil. Another reason why I like this picture is, because she found an image of the past that brought back memories of racial and gender profiling. My final reason why i like this picture is, because this form of art is interesting. Photography in many people eye may be viewed as a less creative form of art. However, Weems Incorporated creativity to the artwork by applying red shades to point out the message of the artwork.
